THUD!

I’m trying to do some kind of drawing every day… even if I don’t feel like it. I won’t post every single one, but I am also trying to keep working, and posting as often as possible is one way to try to stay honest.

This is a warrior and a big stony-guy, like some sort of rock giant I guess, demonstrating that sometimes size does matter.

I admire your commitment. I find that I can't do one everyday. If I stuck just to pencils maybe, but once I take out the brush and start laying ink on the thing, everything gets slower and more difficult. The larger ones usually take me 2-3 days and when I'm done I'm thoroughly tapped for a week- at least.

One of the things I've been doing is to skip the initial layout in pencil and go straight to marker when drawing in my sketchbook. It makes it harder to change stuff if I don't like it, but I'm also trying to get better at making the line I intended the first time.
The drawing markers are a real time saver, too. And although I WANT to do one every day, I doubt that I always will.

One of my recent “drawing phases” involved just such a commitment- doing one sketchbook page per day in pen and ink. This was after years of shameful neglect of my drawing skills. Often I reverted to a series of thumbnail sketches per page.
The commitment drove me onwards through many frustrations, and I really rediscovered my love of drawing.
As per Limpey above, going straight to a permanent medium kind of forced me to have the courage of my commitments in with each drawing. Very worthwhile.
I'm a big fan of your linework. Good on you for making the effort, and I hope its fruitful!

Thank you. I'm falling in love all over again with felt tip markers (particularly the ones that don't stink)… after not drawing with them for many years… although my 'semi-wide' marker was dying as I was drawing the picture above.
