The Mule Abides

I’ve been reading the blog, The Mule Abides, for a while and enjoying it even if I don’t always understand all of the references to critical thought that the author brings to bear on the topic of old school D&D. And the fact that the blog name seems to be a reference to ‘The Big Lebowski’ is another point in favor.
“The Dude” was just my assumption (I don't know anything about Foundation)… I could be wrong.
Since it's a wordpress blog, you can ask for emails of new posts. Definitely worth doing. He's gotta be one of the smartest guys in the OSR.
Imagine just how much fun that movie would have been if it revolved around RPGs rather than bowling:
Walter Sobchak: COCKED DIE!!!
Smokey: Huh?
Walter Sobchak: “I'm sorry Smokey, that die is cocked. Re-roll.
Smokey, Bullshit. Critical hit, Dude.
Walter Sobchak: Excuse me, re-roll the dice.
Smokey: Bullshit, Walter, it was a critical hit, Dude.
Walter Sobchak : Smokey, this is not Nam, this is Dungeons & Dragons. There are rules.
The Dude: Walter, ya know, it's Smokey, so the dice is a little off but it's close enough. It's just a game, man.
Walter Sobchak: Dude, this is a RPGA game, this determines who enters the next round robin. Am I wrong? Am I wrong?
Smokey: Yeah, but that wasn't cocked die. Gimme the critical Dude, double damage.
Walter Sobchak: [pulls out a gun] Smokey, my friend, you are entering a world of pain.
