Creepy Ass Toyota Commercial
Posted: September 24, 2011 Filed under: crass commercialism, douchebaggery, weird 8 CommentsThis Toyota commercial is really fucking creepy… especially when the main character (who is a giant made of dozens of little people) walks outside and sees that he has 4 Toyotas in his driveway. He then falls apart and the little people get in the cars and drive away after loading one of his giant shoes into the trunk.
Disturbingly reminiscent of Clive Barker’s “In The Hills, The Cities”. Maybe Toyota and the advertising agency was thinking, “In The Suburbs, The Consumers”. Or something.
It made me think of the legends of ‘The Wicker Man’ from the druids. I have never read any Barker, but the synopsis of that story sounds great; I will have to check him out!
I haven’t read much Barker myself, but I read that story when someone recommended it in response to Alan Moore’s “All Flesh Is Grass” (aka Swamp Thing #61), which also features as its central image a giant formed from the bodies of individual sentient beings:

Yeah, I don’t like that one bit. Plus, he has an ass for a nose.
I pointed that out to my wife and she said “Well, at least they used a part that smells”…
I think they’re killer robots…? RUN MUTHAFUCKA!!!
Bollywood terminator really kicks ass and on only $1.30 an hour.
It’s the creepiest thing I have seen in a long time. Something about it is really disturbing. I hope it goes off the air soon.
