Another shameless bit of self promotion…
Posted: January 22, 2012 Filed under: art, crass commercialism, portfolio, project, publishing 9 CommentsI did some art a little while ago for Chaotic Henchmen Productions; the adventure is not out yet but a preview is up here. Anyway, here is the image: a party of dungeoneers about to get reamed by some morlocks and their pet lizard…
And this is what it looks like on the cover:
Looks great; reminds me of impressionist set design crossed with Down in the Dungeon.
The textures look very unique. Did you use actual physical paints and coloring pens? How much of this was Photoshop? It looks entirely pre-Photoshop, which is very unusual nowadays. Was it done on paper/Bristol board/etc or something more like canvas?
zhai2nan2: I use acrylics and have been experimenting with airbrush on gessoed bristol paper. I’m not a very sure hand with the airbrush yet but used it for the glow of the torches and some of the texture/spatter.
I messed up the signature so I added my initials in the LH corner using photoshop.
That’s a great looking piece.
Ah, the dude in blue, standing in the pool and pointing, is is very White Plume Mountain. There should be more diaper-clad adventurers. Great work – very cool.
I agree! Great looking illustration!
And on the diaper-clad adventurer: By wearing a diaper, that dude is the best prepared for the module of any of his party!
LOOKS GAY – WAIR IS THE OVRESIZED WAPPONS AND FREEKY ARMIRES?! WHY ARNT TEH HEEROS WHOMPING 10000 MORLICKS BUTTS?? THIS WILL NAVER SELL TO A MODIRN D&D GUY…YUO SHOULD REDO IT KWIK

I like it.
The illustration looks like M.C. Escher. Very eye-catching, if you’re a fan of his (which I am).
