Surge of the Wine Dark Sea book has arrived

I just wanted to note that my copy of ‘Surge of the Wine Dark Sea‘ arrived from Lulu the other day. ‘Surge of the Wine-Dark Sea‘ is an “OSR” art book edited by Matt Finch; it features illustrations by 36 artists who have drawn or painted illustrations for the old school revival game materials being published currently… and I am lucky enough to be one of the artists featured. This book is published by Mythmere Games via Lulu and is available in both hardback and soft cover. I splurged and got myself a hard back.
The illustrations include drawings and paintings, digital art, maps, etc., in a variety of styles and has a brief bio of each artist. I’m quite pleased at the quality of the printing and have been enjoying looking at the work of some of the talented people out there.
The Lulu ad copy says: “This full color book is filled fantasy and swords & sorcery illustrations by artists of the D&D “Old School Renaissance.” These artists have created the visual imagery of recent publications focusing on playing D&D by its early rules, including works by publishers Pacesetter Games, Mythmere Games, the First Edition Society, Frog God Games, Usherwood Adventures, and many others.”
“Wine dark sea” is apparently a reference to Homer’s Odyssey.

Matt Finch, mad genius behind Mythmere Games, emailed me this morning to let me know that ‘Surge of the Wine-Dark Sea’ is now available from Lulu — in either softcover or hardcover editions (or PDF).
This is an art book of art by artists of the OSR… and I have a few bits in it. As noted in the Lulu ad copy:

ART FOR SALE (in the near future)

I’ve got about 100+ of these, published by Goodman and others, that I might like to sell to interested collectors. In the coming months I will try to set up some kind of online marketplace for them.
Note: These will be sold as original art to hang on your wall — not for reproduction.
This one is unpublished; I think it’s about 12×16 acrylic on paper. Roar! Those PCs are about to get cooked!
Buy some of my used shit
Posted: January 19, 2011 Filed under: crass commercialism 3 CommentsI need a better digital camera for my art stuff, so I am selling off some books to (hopefully) finance it. I’ll probably be selling more crap; maybe even minis (although that would really hurt).
If it doesn’t sell here and the few other places I have listed it, I’ll probably ebay the rest. Bulk offers welcome — the numbers represent what I think is fair.
Condition: Few things are ‘never used/mint’ (A+). Most of this has been read and is a little shelf worn or may have crinkles in the pages, dings on corners, etc. Some of the d20 hardbacks have a little cover curl (which I think has more to do with the manufacturing than wear and tear).
Sorry for using my blog to shill my useless crap, but, hey, I need the $. No reasonable offer refused. I have a few offers pending on some of the things; if you are interested just email me at sbpoag(at)gmail(dot)com.
Selling the Hackmaster stuff really hurts. I got it in trade for some art for a game company and never got to play it, although I really wanted to. Ah well.
